Seaside Holiday in the Past

Transport

Transport systems flourished with railways branching all over the country to carry passengers and not just goods like fish and coal, etc. Tynemouth Station opened in 1882, with its glass and wrought iron canopy to let in light but shield from the weather. It must have been like a huge greenhouse with plants and flowers and places to sit. It won prizes year after year for being the best-kept station on the North Eastern Railway Line. Tynemouth Station.
